The beautiful Barnes would be my happy place if I called Philly home. I would sit and sketch and contemplate in the busy and weirdly over-curated rooms hoping for inspiration to strike. Go there.
The Big Trip - Installment 1
These are my first glimpses of adventure on what is the longest vacation I have had -- and longest time I have spent in a city -- in quite a while...
Leg one - Boise to Philadelphia
Dogma
I am a selfish and materialistic person. Blame it on my Taurus nature or my spoiled upbringing if you must. But I just got two puppies. And now I am a mother. Everything has changed, and I finally understand all of the lame-ass bumper stickers I so naively chided for years. Now as a proud mother of the technical age I am required to post photos of them online without their baby permission.
California (Grandma) Love
It's hard not to be cast under the spell of California, with its bougainvillea covered fences, sea breeze and year-round farmer's markets. I make the eighteen hour drive from Ketchum to visit my Grandma, who has an ideal spot on the beach of Cayucos, where the surf is always up and the temperature remains a balmy sixty most of the year. This time around, beach vacation turned to DIY yard project, and here are the pictures that show our efforts.
Better Late Than Never
It has become my favorite day of the year, hiking through the woods to pick and chop the perfect Christmas tree. After growing up buying fancy tree-lot trees, there is something so special about finding the quirky one and giving it a home (even though you are really just killing it -- think of it as forest fire maintenance).
This year as always we forgot cash to buy the permit so we had to go ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK and then ALL THE WAY BACK to the SNRA (Sawtooth National Recreation Area) before setting out on my beloved adventure. Since Christmas is (thankfully) over, I hope you enjoy the pictures I gathered of our magnificent day and magnificent 'kill'.
